Hello loves and welcome back to Casa Cozy! I hope you’ve had a great weekend! Our weekend consisted of building and some more building, we’ve actually been working on the kitchen for the last weeks (yes, it takes a lot of time), but we are now 75% done and it feels amazing! Let’s take a look of what we did below!
In our previous post about the kitchen we were trying different treatments for the wood that we’re using for the kitchen drawers and boards. It all turned out nice but it was a bit too complicated to use the treatment we wanted, and then we found out about a wax/oil that is natural and doesn’t change the original colour of the wood. We got it, we tried it and we loved it! So we went with that. I cleaned, sandpapered and oiled the wood and then it was time to put the pieces together!
Since its different boards together we cut out plywood pieces in the right measurements, painted them and screwed on the boards and also the handles.
It took a while to do this since some of the boards are in small pieces, so a lot of screws were required but we did it together and had a lot of fun doing it and were super excited every time we put up a new drawer. Finally some big things happening that you see. We had one problem though… since the boards are old, they are bent and not straight in the back which makes the whole drawer/door bend. After a lot of discussing we found a way to fix it with a belt sander, our new member in our machinery lineup, which we call Sandy! So this will keep Klemens busy for some extra days, but it will be all worth it to have it straight and great from the beginning!
When we were done with the drawers it was time for the top board and the two boxes that we will have in the kitchen. These will all be covered in micro cement, but first we had to build the base. Micro cement is a coating based on cement which is only 2mm thick and can be put on a lot of different materials also floors, ceilings and walls. It’s a perfect solution if you want a cement board or anything else but without having it super heavy. We are using OSB boards as the base, because they are stable and good to micro cement on. So that’s why we built the topboard and the boxes out of this material.
Klemens was the main builder in this case and I was his assistant + gluer.
We also got our fridge delivered! <3 It’s been a dream to have this fridge and I’m so happy to finally have it here <3 I love the colour and think it fits perfectly in Casa Cozy. We have had a mini fridge for the last 7 years, like a 70cm high fridge including freezer, so it’s so nice to finally be able to fill the fridge for a longer time and not having to go to the super market so often.
And here are the final boxes! They will also be covered in micro cement and we will use them for storage and for deco, we’ll see what happens! But we wanted to keep the kitchen airy and open without too many drawers.
And there you see the whole kitchen, 75% done! What do you think? It looks a bit messy right now but it is exactly what we were going for and we’re so happy of the outcome! Now we just need to do the micro cementing, we already have it at home, so probably next week. And after that we will put the tiles, which we also have here already (will show later), and then the wooden board which will go across over the whole kitchen where we’ll keep plates and glasses etc etc :)
YEY! Casa Cozy is getting there!
See our video below for more details :)
Lots of love xx Mikuta + Klemens

Nice work! What glue did you use for the OSB boards?
Thank you! ;) We used normal wood glue (waterproof) – but I’m sure the most basic wood glue does the job evenly well!
This is amazing. Great post

You 2 just blow me away!! Everything you do, is just magic. Love your taste and your handyman (woman) talents. I applaud you both for all the do it yourself work you are putting into your new home.😍😍
Love your kitchen!! May I ask what the colour of the fridge is? White or cream. Either way it looks fantastic. Xx
Thank you so much <3 Its the cream colour :)
