Hello loves and good evening from Sri Lanka! We just arrived last night and went straight to Negombo which is just half an hour away from the airport and quite cozy actually. We’re staying here for one more day just to “arrive” and get used to the climate (it’s very hot and humid) and the time difference (only 4 and a half hour difference from Germany but we’re still super awake even though its midnight here)…and to relax (of course)!
Our journey will last for 3 weeks where we will travel around to several places on the island, both mountains and beaches and lastly the 4 last days we will spend on the Maldives, so we’re super excited and can’t wait to continue the adventure. None of us have been here before so we’re both very intrigued :)
But let’s start with the first step which is Negombo, this is the perfect place to start your trip, or to end it – just because it’s so close to the airport! It’s a great place to get to know the new country, the people and the food! We are staying by the just above the beach in a cute little hotel, it’s just by the main street where all the restaurants, bars and shops are, it’s not very crowded, almost no tourists at all which makes it kind of nice… could be a bit more people but it’s ok! This way we get to know the Sri Lankans more anyways! The street is super busy with colourful tuk-tuks and bikes, we just walked up and down the street taking photos and visiting the cute little canal. Below the street is the beach, a huge beach where you find lots of beach bars, hotels and restaurants, there are also a lot of activities going on such as volley ball, diving and some kind of wooden catamaran boats here and there. But more about the beach tomorrow cause that’s where you’ll find us!
Every time I’m doing diary posts when we travel I end up posting so many photos, we thought of posting just some per day to keep it exciting but I guess that’s how it is, every time you get to a new place it’s so fun to just shoot and shoot and shoot! Will try to update everyday about our travel on the diary page, so see you very soon!
Lots of love xx Mikuta + Klemens
