Hello! We just came back to Berlin after our three weeks trip around some islands in Thailand. We really had the most wonderful time and we both wish we could just stay there forever, sipping coconut shakes and read books on the beach… but no, life goes on but we will be back for sure! :)
Today I wanted to write about one of the resorts where we stayed in Phi Phi Island. We first arrived with the ferry to the centre of Phi Phi. When I was a kid I used to go there all the time with my family and we used to love it! Sadly, the paradise had changed completely and instead of cozy little reggae bars there were now big rave parties on the beach, boys and girls drinking buckets on the streets and loud music all over! I don’t think I saw anyone over 30 and no one under 18. It’s great for people who like to party this way, but that is nothing that Klemens and I are very interested in, then we would just go over to Ibiza or Magaluf!
Although the centre of Phi Phi has turned out to a party place, the island is still one of the most beautiful one in the Andaman sea, with white sand and transparent water. Instead of staying in the centre we took a long-tail boat up to the north where Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island is located. Once we got there it was as if we were on another island, the beach was almost empty, the calm and the happiness around made us feel so welcome! As soon as we arrived we both got a chilled welcome drink and got shown to our beautiful bungalow just in front of the beach. The bungalows are spacious, modern with hot water and air-condition, which lets you sleep though the whole night cuddling in the thick duvets!
During our stay at Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island we enjoyed some swims in the sea, but also in their two pools. They have one which is for everyone and another infinity pool which is separated and more for couples, a really relaxing place with sun beds, a bar and chill music. We enjoyed the biggest and most amazing breakfast buffet which included anything you could imagine. My favourite was the pancakes, I’ll never get tired of that, and all the different kind of fruits such as mango, papaya, pineapple, etc etc. The resort has two different restaurants where you can enjoy your breakfast, but it also offers dinners with different themes every night. If you don’t feel like eating at the resort every day, there are some different options on the long beach, such as small thai restaurants and bars. Apart from good food, the resort also has a lot of different activities such as yoga, snorkelling, kayaking and boat trips around the various small islands around. We had a fun day snorkelling and kayaking, and another day visiting the Maya Bay (where “The Beach” was filmed). For people not so into activities, there are also more relaxing things to do such as massage and spa.
During our three weeks in Thailand where we were hustling around and taking photos of absolutely everything, coming to Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island was so relaxing and exactly what we needed – some time off! This is definitely a place where you arrive, relax, disconnect, and just go with the flow. Since the resort has two parts, one for families and another one for couples, it works for both, you can decide what you want to do and what fits best for your holidays!
Thank you so much Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island for having us, it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! <3
