Hello loves, long time no see here on the blog! We came home from Costa Rica a month ago already, can’t believe how fast time is passing. Some say time passes slow during quarantine but I feel it’s passing super fast, the days just mix together and feels like one big day, that’s why I’m chocked it’s already 1st of May!
The days haven’t been so much different from before when we were home, when we didn’t travel we always worked from home and hardly left the house, editing photos, working on the online shop or building in the house, so it’s not a big difference now, just that we have more time to relax and staying here for an unknown time… luckily we have the house though, so we don’t get bored! There’s still so much to fix. Although we decided to get some professionals to do the bathroom and to build the bathroom wall and door, there’s a lot of small stuff that we can still build :)
We haven’t posted so much about Casa cozy lately because we really needed a little break, after the beginning of the year we were so into building, specially the kitchen, that we just burnt out a little, and just needed some space to get back on track. But now we are back with full energy!
Before we went to Costa Rica we built the kitchen and covered it in microcement, and now when we came back we built wooden floor and benches etc etc for the balconies (blogposts about that will come), and then we finally put up the tiles!
We decided the type of tiles long time ago, even before we got the apartment, and then we just went with it and didn’t really think twice if we actually wanted to have them. We only thought about either getting white or light grey but never thought about an alternative… so as soon as we started putting up the tiles both Klemens and I felt that it was wrong, it just didn’t feel good. But we continued putting them up until almost the end, we looked at it, thought about it, let it sit for some days to see what we felt but agreed pretty fast that it wasn’t the right thing! The tiles were absolutely beautiful, but they were so shiny and white and just took away the attention from the concrete and wood kitchen we had worked so hard on. We also felt that the ceramic material didn’t work with the materials we already had, so some days ago we took them down again, which was really easy since we never put the grout. It felt a bit sad, but the tiles are still usable for someone else :)
I know it’s a bit crazy being so picky over tiles, but we spent so much time working on this apartment and just didn’t want to end up with not being satisfied, specially with the kitchen which is the heart of the apartment. After many thoughts, ideas and research (which we should have done before, haha) we figured that the best option for us is to do the stucco all the way down! Stucco is chalk paint painted with a spatula, just like we have on the wall over the kitchen with Kalklitir. So we will do that, but cover it with several sealers so it’s resistant towards water and stains :) I think it will be great! A more “relaxed” look!
Right now on the pictures the wall is just covered with plaster, so don’t worry about the green color, hehe.
Anyways, that was a very long text, just wanted to update you about the process! Now to what this post was actually going to be about – our new bar stools! Some months ago we were at a restaurant and Klemens saw these stools and fell in love, later we found out their name – Adam stool – and thought they would fit perfectly for Klemens’ bar.
He doesn’t like to sit comfortable by a table in a chair, he prefers to sit anywhere else while working, specially high up. So now the idea is to build a little table coming out from the wall between the balcony and the fridge, over the radiator…you see below on the pic! That’s where Klemens will work, have his coffee and also a perfect little place if we have people over, or to serve snacks, champagne…anything :P
I love how they fit with the kitchen, the black lines and the wood. Our first new furniture to Casa cozy <3 Klemens is the happiest, finally he got his stools!
So now next things to do in Casa cozy is painting the kitchen wall, putting up a wooden board where the “hanging” plant is, build the bar table and finally do the bathroom!
Have a great weekend! Lots of love xx Mikuta

Great work!! I really love the output so far! I am just trying to get Kalklitir in the kitchen as weel and I am interested on what product did you use to protect it. Thanks a lot in advanced!
Regards,
Isabel
Hi Isabel,
thank you! We used a 2-component sealer (that we also got from Kalklitir) and we did 4-5 layers like they recommended (as they are very thin layers).
The matt finish of the wall stays nearly the same – just that the stucco wall is now protectet from grease / splashes etc and you can easily wash it off / clean the wall!
xx Jacqueline
Thanks a lot Jacqueline!! I’ll check it out 😊
