PAINTING OUR BEDROOM WALL

October 3, 2019

– Anzeige/ad – Friendly collaboration with Kalklitir –Hello loves! The renovations in Casa cozy are going well, every day we move forward and the other day it was finally time to paint. We were really looking forward to this because with this you really see a difference, and a fast difference! Maybe you remember some months ago when Klemens and I were experimenting with colours on the kitchen wall, we freestyled and didn’t really know what we were doing and the result didn’t turn out so well… but then Nathalie, a friend of mine came to visit from Sweden and told us about kalk paint and showed us some paint from a brand called Kalklitir and it was exactly what we wanted! Kalklitir is a family owned company from Iceland specialized in kalkpaint, they have so many beautiful colours to choose from and their packaging and whole concept is so beautiful!

We will paint three walls in the apartment, first the bedroom wall (which we do in this post), then we do the sofa wall in the kitchen and also the kitchen wall above the kitchen. For the bedroom wall we chose a color called Celadon Primo which is a bit beige/grey, depends on the light, and in the kitchen and sofa wall we will use a color called Palladio a bit more greyish/beige, we are not completely sure how it will turn out but we will see! That’s the exciting thing about all this!

PS. there’s a discount code at the end of the post :)

Kalklitir comes in powder in a beautiful bag and you mix it yourself with water. 1,7 litres for 1kg bag which covers 8 square metres in two rounds. We used two bags for this whole wall! You mix the powder little by little in the water and stir it with a whisk stirrer. We used a wooden stick first which didn’t work so well, so we had to get a whisk to really mix it and get the paint as smooth as possible :) Also don’t forget to tape the edges and cover the floors, it does drop a bit! Then it was time to finally paint! You can paint in different ways, either up & down strokes or cross strokes, with up & down you get clearer marks and with cross strokes you get a more cloudy effect. We chose to do cross strokes in the bedroom to make it more dreamy, but with the second layer I just did a little bit of both :) There’s no right or wrong!I started at the top and worked it down to the bottom and then I went up again and repeated until the wall was covered. Then we let it dry until we did the second layer. When the paint is wet it is very dark, I had heard that before, but after the second round it stayed quite dark for a long time until it really dried and I was so so scared it was going to stay! But the day after when we came back it was all light again and so beautiful! This is the result! Isn’t it beautiful? We are so in love! It’s exactly how we wanted it, perfect little cloud with some smooth and some harder edges and the color is perfect <3 I think it really gave some life to the apartment and I think the color fits so well with the grey radiator. Now I can’t wait to put in our bed and the furnitures and see how it will look like, but that has to wait because we have so much more to do, haha!

Another fun thing that I think is quite nice is that the old owners of this apartment are from Iceland too, so we’re keeping a bit of the northern energy :)

Also, if you’re interested to paint as well and thought this looked as fun as it was, Kalklitir is super amazing and they offer 25% discount when buying minimum 1 bag of kalk paint (minimum order of 75€ which is one bag), just use the code “mikutas25” at checkout, the offer stands until the 30th of October before midnight <3 yey!

Now it’s time to paint the next wall, but now it’s Klemens’ turn! If you want to see more check out the video of our painting!

Lots of love xx Mikuta
