Hello loves! Finally it’s here, our post that we’ve been trying to do for months but we had some complications with the hard drives and weren’t able to access the photos. What a nightmare, from now on it’s double or triple of every photo! We were so excited in Mexico when we were there last September and took thousands of photos and in the end it all disappeared, so sad, but now we managed to get some photos back so here it is, our big photo-bomb from the most beautiful paradise place – Papaya Playa Project!

We both had heard lots about this project before we went to Mexico, and one of the reasons to go there was to visit this beautiful place situated on Tulum beach, taking over 900 metres of the beach front full of cabañas and beach-houses laying around. Once we arrived we were so well welcomed by everyone working there, and after getting to know them more during the days we noticed that they are all like a little family, they all have a goal which is the mission of constantly improving their natural surroundings and focuses on reaching the greatest sustainability by using solar energy, their own water treatment, recycling and fair trade products. Their goal is to protect the biodiversity and vibrant life for our future generations and supporting the local economy by working with locals and traditional artisans.

There are different rooms and cabañas, all with the traditional Mayan way of building, some bigger ones with their own pools and some smaller little huts, a bit of everything for everyone’s taste. There are even some special houses a little further away for more privacy. One of them is a big house which fits around 20 people which people can rent for weddings or special occasions, wouldn’t mind getting married there either! Apart from that they have the tree house which is the white “bubble house” that you can see in the photos, so cute!

A sustainable dream by the Caribbean sea.

We were staying in a beautiful little private casita jungle experience with our own pool with walls surrounding. The interior is luxurious but down-to-earth and casual with a terrace, air conditioning and a big open bathroom. I loved waking up in the mornings, take a morning swim in the pool and later walking the little path to their restaurant which was situated just by the beach. There we would enjoy a plate of Chilaquiles (best breakfast in the world) and ice-coffees. The restaurant has several decks in different levels with private seatings which gives everyone the perfect view over the sea nice with wooden tables and cozy pillows laying around. Their menu is influenced by the Mayan and Mexican traditions but with a twist – trust me when I say it’s delicious!

Below, just some metres down you find the beach club with soft sun beds laying around with palapitas hanging over for some shade, there we used to go down during the day or late afternoon for some topitos with guacamole and some reading or swimming.

Oh and not to forget, we were so lucky to have been there during their full moon party, apparently they have a big party whenever there is full moon where they invite major-league DJ’s and international musicians to perform. It was full of people, many coming down to Tulum just for this event but also a lot of locals, amazing music and such a great atmosphere, we all danced until early morning together under the bright full moon! Will never forget <3

Both Klemens and I really loved this place, we felt so much like home, as a part of something great and so welcomed to be there. The energy is so relaxing, positive and all about love. A big recommendation if you’re considering a visit to Tulum. For more tips about what to see and what to do in Tulum visit our other blogpost here: PLAYA, TULUM AND HARDCORE MOSQUITOES

Now time to enjoy the photos a little more and dream away to the beach <3

Lots of love xx Mikuta + Klemens

Hi Caro, vielen Dank!
Das Resort heisst Papaya Playa Project und ist äusserst empfehlenswert! Unser Haus war ein “PRIVATE CASITA JUNGLE EXPERIENCE”, die Auswahl dort ist aber riesig und alles ist geil! ;)
