YALA SAFARI

January 31, 2018

Hello from the car! We just left Yala and the Wild coast lodge tents to go down towards Tangalle, it’s time for some beach and surf!

Yesterday we woke up at 5.30 to go on Safari, we were supposed to go with another couple but they didn’t wake up which was lucky for us because then we could go all by ourselves, and the guide of course. The morning was beautiful and we were really excited while driving into the Yala national park. Sri Lanka is famous for their Leopards and it’s the main reason people go on Safari, unfortunately there are only around 40 Leopards in Yala and Yala is huge, so the chance of seeing on is quite hard, specially when it’s raining or wet, the Leopards like it dry. Unfortunately  we didn’t get to see one, we were searching but with no luck. We got to see Elephants though, with their babies, lots of peacocks, wild boars, beautiful little deers, crocodiles, lizards, the biggest deer of the jungle, some cool birds (don’t remember their names), one bird specially that is really had to see, our guide in our age who has a biology degree was amazed though and kept talking about it <3 Anyways, it was a really nice experience, I loved to wake up early and go out with the car, take the binoculars and spy on the wild animals and learn all about them from our guide!

Later in the evening we heard that the guys who did the safari in the afternoon saw lots of Leopards…so I guess you just have to be lucky! :) I put on my leopard dress and wore it for dinner, so since I could’t see one, I could just be one! :D

See you from the beach! Lots of love xx Mikuta
